Autumn glaze release — Ash & Oatmeal, thrown this month in St Just

Terms Of Sale

Last revised 3 April 2026. These apply to everything sold from the workshop and by post.

1. Handmade Variation

Every piece is thrown by hand. Dimensions vary by two to three millimetres, weights by up to five percent, and glaze surfaces vary within the range described on the glazes page. This variation is the product, not a defect, and it is not grounds for return under our faulty-goods terms — though it is covered by the ordinary right to change your mind in clause 4.

2. What Counts As A Fault

A crack through the body, a chip, a glaze fault that leaves bare clay on a food surface, or a piece that does not sit flat. Crazing is not a fault — see the care page — and neither is a variation in glaze colour between firings.

3. Delivery And Breakages

Orders are posted within five working days unless the piece is being thrown to order, in which case we give you a firing date. Everything is double-boxed in paper. If a parcel arrives broken, tell us within seven days with a photograph and we will replace the piece or refund it, at your choice. Keep the packaging for a fortnight in case the courier asks.

4. Returns

Fourteen days from delivery to change your mind, in line with UK consumer regulations. Send it back in the original packaging, unused, and we refund the price of the goods. Return postage is yours unless the piece was faulty. Commissions and pieces thrown to a bespoke size are exempt, because they exist only because you asked for them.

5. Stock

What the shop shows is what is on the shelf, updated after each kiln opening. Very occasionally two people order the last bowl within the same hour; if that happens we will tell you the same day and offer the next firing or a refund.

6. Commissions

Quoted individually, half payable up front, eight to ten weeks. The deposit covers clay, kiln space and studio time already committed and is not refundable once throwing has begun. We will not reproduce another maker's work.

7. Wholesale

Minimum thirty pieces, ten-week lead time, payment before dispatch on first orders. Stockists may not sell our work through third-party marketplaces without asking, which is a condition we apply for the sake of the other ten shops.

8. Prices

Prices include VAT at the prevailing UK rate and exclude delivery. They change when clay and electricity prices change, which in the last three years has been more often than we would like.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and nothing in them affects your statutory rights.
